Kawaku's Summer Clock Doujinshi - 2

Kawaku's newest illustration collection came out during Comiket 78, and is aptly titled Summer Clock (夏時計). This full color doujinshi includes several brightly themed summer works along with a few of his Aquarian Age Saga 3 card game illustrations.

Summer Clock isn't very long, 20-pages when counting the covers and there aren't illustrations on the glossy-finish inside covers. The outside front cover has the title text printed with a silver metallic finish and the cover art illustration isn't repeated inside. The book is B5-sized and staple-bound, with the art work printed on smooth, untextured pages.

Though Kawaku is quite big on fantasy-style illustrations, there are a few "slice of life" works, with the school girl spread in the opening photo along with a regular girl in a bikini towards the end of the collection.

There are a total of 12 illustrations in Summer Clock, with two of those being spreads. Though it isn't a lot, all the illustrations are exceedingly well done with finished backgrounds and detailed costumes, which still isn't a standard for doujinshi releases.

The book ends with Kawaku's Aquarian Age Saga 3 illustrations, two of which feature the sea-monster girl pictured above. I'm not a huge fan of the monster-type illustrations, as I've mentioned before in Nagi Ryou's entirely TCG themed Comiket 78 release, T.U.R.N. There are still plenty of copies of Summer Clock available on Toranoana and Melonbooks, so if this is an artist you'd like to support, it'd be pretty easy to do so ^^

I think she's more of a sea monster than a mermaid! It's not a toy boat ;D

I concur. Very beautiful. I also agree about the sea monster, she has tentacles. Or... a long serpent like body. Hehe.
