I wasn't familiar with SIRON's art work when I decided to pick up the artist's C78 release, School Photo x Memory. But the style certainly looked familiar, reminiscent of a simplified style version of Kaya Kuramoto's art works and for that reason I gave it a chance.
School Photo x Memory is short, even for a doujinshi, measuring in at a lean 12-pages including the covers. It's B5-sized, and staple-bound and also makes use of the inside and outside covers for illustrations, so for once you really do get 12 pages of art work.
SIRON definitely seems to be an artist finding a style; the most recent art works on SIRON's Pixiv take on a wholly different direction from the works in School Photo x Memory. Even still, SIRON puts a lot of effort into the atmosphere of the illustrations, creating fitting backdrops for these original character designs.
Though there are some notable pieces in School Photo x Memory, I don't think I would have gone out of my way to collect it. But I am interested to see where SIRON may go as an artist, especially based on recent art works. Certainly one to keep an eye on!
